Salvatore Ferragamo

Remembered as the maker of exquisite hand-made shoes, Salvatore Ferragamo, moved to America from Italy in 1914, eventually ending up in Hollywood where his repair and shoe-making business began to attract Hollywood stars and movie-makers. His shoes featured on the stars on and off duty (he made Judy Garland’s red shoes for the Wizard of Oz). Returning to Italy in 1927, he set up his eponymous fashion house, which today produces menswear, womenswear, fragrances and eyewear.s.
