Standing with women across the world

Brides Do Good

On 8 March, the world celebrates International Women’s Day - a day to celebrate the strength of women everywhere.

In many countries, women and girls are still denied basic human rights, including the right to make their own choices. Every year 15 million girls are forced into underage marriage, which not only denies them an education but puts them at higher risk of abuse, ill health and early death.

Brides Do Good connects women across the world to protect vulnerable young girls. Through partnerships with brides and brands, it curates a beautiful selection of pre-loved, new and sample designer wedding dresses, buyable online and at pop-up events internationally, funds from which support girls’ education in areas most affected by child marriage.

La Vallée Village is proud to stand with Brides Do Good and in solidarity with women internationally. We believe in a world where every girl has the chance to live a life of opportunity and choice, no matter where she is born.

Until 8 March, you can support Brides Do Good by donating to the cause here.

By joining the movement on Instagram (instagram.com/bridesdogood) by using #womenforgirls , or checking out their online wedding dresses selection at www.bridesdogood.com

What donations would support:

  • £25: Families in refugee situations often struggle to buy enough food. £25 is enough to provide a basic but life-saving food pack including 20kg of rice and 3kg of lentils as well as oil, salt, sugar and spices.
  • £100: We’re giving children in host community schools packs of books and learning materials. £100 is enough to give 7 children everything they need to learn for a year.
  • £250: We’re making sure that children are ready to go back into school through remedial classes. £250 is enough to pay a tutor for a year to run remedial classes.
  • £500: Refugee children have often coped with huge loss and trauma. We’re making sure teachers and other trusted people can help children recover. £500 is enough to train 25 people in psycho-social support to help vulnerable children.
  • £1000: We’re training refugee teachers in camp schools on quality teaching for vulnerable children. £1,000 is enough to give four teachers a whole year’s training.
